mint leaves [30 Dec 2006|08:50pm]
[ mood | calm ]

the little space
between his neck and curls
-tousled-

smelled of nutmeg and warm milk.

on a window sill,
then,
silly sappy songish.

sooty, i walked the alleyway.

"i am left to carry this. this. empty basket. ive dropped my seeds."

not prim nor proper,
not avarice nor concession.

i sit transparent as a previctorian bed sheet,

waiting for forgetting to grow.

indigotine (a record of a correspondence) [01 Jul 2006|01:37pm]
d----, (just twice, twice)

in a bathysphere,

under the lid of a fry-ing pan
on a slippery sidewalk.

fish-eyes i cant
focus

bound, fastened. securely,
on the caboose of the northbound train,
cheeks raw.

tinsel-eyed.
i am a geyser,
a two-ton differential
a grubby-footed child
a cob-webbed corner

of a condemned residence.

.
d----,

(to tell of
writhing, talking to you

in the dark, in a quiet room.

do you... hear me?)

ceteris paribus/coriander [13 Feb 2006|04:16pm]
yesterdays and today rush by without so-much as a

hello/good-bye.
guileless,

spent and sigh.

i have but hope
on which i fly.

counting days,

oh "Bye and bye----

(she says as though a bother)

Where is it you keep to?"

(crocodile tears methinks)

in a transitory state.

"away, aweight."

a vague response.

but apt enough, and counting.

ps. i am off to switzerland for a year, april twenty first, four days past my twenty-first birthday.
i assure you i am always reading you and yours, poised for-kettle whistle my response... and it slips away. it is no intention of mine to be absent, but the absent minded is as does. which brings me to yet more apologies.

a smile or two.

learning how to learn [22 Jan 2006|10:43pm]
i have to find something i know nothing about.

something that makes me cringe.

and immerse myself in it. absorb it. breath it.

spathia/ the space between toes [11 Jul 2005|12:12am]
a quorum.
today i am stretching, stretching, turning laughing
he took me for a drive,
i sketched and sang softly
a collection of women, starting to gather dust on my shelves,
ive misplaced my feather-duster
nostalgic for sweaters
soft, focus, refocus
drift away
row back
wash ashore

breakfast out
drive in hill country
my dinner with andre (please watch this movie)
filled the third shoebox of mail-art, still have several hundred to go before i start collecting addresses.
casey's new orleans sno-balls (half custard/wedding cake flavors)
scrabble
delightful dinner
a kid for two farthings (also recommended)
framed little girl sketch by friend.

i stay away from this, when things are hairy.
ive found a way to practice storytelling.
ive found an art to practice everyday.
ive found a meditation that keeps.
ive found a relationship that i jump into laughing every morning.

im going to make that appointment.
i have a five year plan.

today, there is a direction.
today, there is solace in tomorrow.

n.

please dont break away.

the zig-zag map of a child's thoughts [30 Jun 2005|09:45pm]
new familar faces, new.
"winter clothes hung out to dry"
heavier, mentally. heavier, physically.
open.
opening.
close.
closer.
double-knotting those loose ends,
brick faced,
fingertips in wax.

the weight around my neck hangs lighter.

suggestions, comments, criticism.
response. challenge. confession.

something im not apt, but needy, to do.

reading 'short sentimental journey and other stories' by italo svevo.

missing my mom.

waiting for rain. counting the minutes.
